Holding Government Accountable – Jeremy Munson

Hello, My name is Jeremy Munson and I am asking for your vote in the Special Election on Feb. 12th.  I want to hold our government accountable and serve our rural interests. I will fight for us, and not simply be part of the moderate problem that continues to grow the government. We need a Representative who understands our issues and will get things done. I am not a career politician. I am not running to further my political career. I will represent our rural interests and not be beholden to big government groups.
We need to hold government responsible for every dollar it spends. We need new solutions for solving our healthcare crisis that involve free markets and price transparency at the doctor’s office and pharmacy. We must focus on the health insurance problem, as well as, the cost of healthcare. We must reduce our income, property and death taxes, as well as, eliminate overreaching regulations, to help our farmers, and grow our companies. We must be competitive with other States to keep and attract jobs. Finally, we need to strengthen rural schools and fix our roads, without breaking the bank. It is time government worked for everyone. I want to advocate for us. This is why I want to use my diverse business experience and management style to provide new ideas and get things done.
As a business consultant, I have worked and helped many companies across numerous industries, I understand not only the need to attract new companies and high paying jobs to our region, but also the importance of retaining existing companies and jobs in our district. In parts of our district, businesses are closing their doors and moving to neighboring states due to Minnesota’s poor business climate. Recently, Minnesota was named the 3rd worst state for doing business. This must change. As your State Representative, I will fight to change our state’s economic direction, so that our businesses, hardworking citizens, and retirees remain in this state.
As your representative, I will draw on my diverse business background to understand and anticipate the problems facing our district. I graduated with a business degree from the University of Minnesota, and am a self-employed owner of a small business consulting company. Before starting my business consulting company, I worked full time for my father in-law, where I gained experience farming row crops and working in hog barns. I have also spent 23 years investing, developing, selling and managing real estate, and own a small hops company. The core of my career, however, has been spent helping businesses of all sizes eliminate waste and become more efficient, effective and profitable. As a consultant, I go into companies and work to root out inefficient processes and wasteful spending, then advocate for specific changes.
I was born and raised in rural Minnesota. I live on a farm outside Lake Crystal with my wife, Kallie Eberhart Munson, and two daughters, Stella (10) and Gretta (7). Fifteen years ago, my wife and I bought our farm, so we could be close to my wife’s family and hometown of Madelia. We wanted to raise our children to appreciate the hard work ethic and value structure that make our district great. Our children attend school in Lake Crystal and my family attends church and Sunday school in Madelia.
This election is important for our district. I am not a career politician. As your Representative, I will provide real solutions, listen, hold our government accountable, and be a strong voice for us. I look forward to learning your concerns and objectives for this office in the upcoming weeks. Feel free to contact me on my personal cell phone at 507-351-0008, or by email at [email protected]
